Our Story
There are many things that Scandinavia seems to have gotten right — work life balance is one of them. We can’t control how much time you spend at work, but, through Nordøst Exchange, we can have an impact on how being at work feels.
We wanted to balance hygge with hardwork, just as Scandinavia does so well. Drawing inspiration from the clean designs they favor, with just a touch of coziness, we hope you’ll enjoy being there as much as we enjoyed creating it.
Rather than bulldozing the existing architecture, we saw the potential it held. Although the inside was a combination of bad lighting, old floors, and 90s office ‘chic’, the ex-YMCA building had great bones.
We stripped right back to create the open spaces, see the exposed brick and feel the strength of the industrial beams. Even the floors — a now polished concrete — were originally covered up. Much like we have exposed the unrealized potential of this building, we hope that you can realize your potential here.
